I'm trying to understand, but not always accept:-)
And yes, we should not influence.
Even after 15 years in US, I'm not completely understanding local politics and did not want to vote since I don't think it matters (my voice), plus I pretty much don't have anyone (politian wise) I trust/respect in both countries...
